The Perfect Golf Swing?
Most people take
for granted that if your feet are planted, your arms can swing
fast and through the ball.
But a golf swing is no different than a cricket batsman swing or
a place kicker's kick: You need stability and resistance to be
able to efficiently move the body in a specific motion.
Proper posture is
essential for golf performance. Without proper posture a golfer
could not get into the required positions needed to consistently
keep the club on its proper path. Although the golf swing looks
symmetrical, one side of the body is used much differently than
the other. Different stabilities are needed throughout different
parts of the swing phase; therefore we must activate and
dynamically train specific patterns of movement to be able to
achieve the most efficient swing for each person.
Another very
important part of a golfers swing is
flexibility and range of
movement. A golfer has to be able to maintain and use a
specific range of movement threw there back, shoulders and neck
(to name a few!) to be able to consistently hit a ball.
A question that is
often asked when a golfer’s game alters is ‘why’?
Are you doing
anything different from normal or has your range of movement
changed due to tight muscles or general joint stiffness due to
poor work posture or a lack of flexibility maintenance.
At
Citisport we assess your
golfing range of movement so that you are aware of your ability
and assess your static and dynamic stability and using exercise
help you create a firmer base from which to use your swing.
